Intro:
After updating to Windows 11 24H2 users find themseves unable to SMB mount a Vess R2600 share.
Discussion:
In Windows 11 24H2 Microsoft introduced SMB 3.1.1 and included many SMB security enhancements that broke older SMB implementations. This affects all older storage devices.
Many are searching for answers in the various forums and there are a lot of potential solutions, none of which have worked in practice.
We do not have a solution for this. The storage is working as designed but Microsoft has broken SMB.
Some work arounds...
- Roll back to Windows 11 23H2
- Use NFS. The Windows NFS client will have to be installed.
- Use FTP. Filezilla is an easy to use graphical interface FTP browser.
