Fibre Channel Statistics and Definitions
The Fibre Channel Management–Statistic tab enables you to view statistics of the Fibre Channel ports on the Controller, including:
Property Name |
Definition |
Time Since Last Reset | Time in minutes that the system has been ruinning |
Number of Frames Sent | Total number of frames sent since last reset |
Number of Frames Received | Total number of frames received since last reset |
Number of Words Sent | Total number of words sent since last reset |
Number of Words Received | Total number of frames received since last reset |
LIP Count - Loop Initilization Primitive Sequence |
This Primitive Sequence applies only to the Arbitrated Loop topology. It is transmitted by an L_Port to (re)initialize the Loop |
NOS Count - Not Operational Primitive Sequence |
This Primitive Sequence is used during link initialization between two N_Ports in the Point-to-point topology or an N_Port and an F_Port in the Fabric topology. It is sent to indicate that that transmitting port has detected a link failure or is offline. The expected response to a port sending NOS is the OLS Primitive Sequence. |
Number of Error Frames | FC devices propagate handshake signals back in forth requesting and acknowledging each byte transferred. FC transfers occur in frames of data on frame at a time. In this case this area reflects the number of Frames with errors. |
Number of Dumped Frames | This field specifies the dumped number of frames due to a lack of host buffers. |
Link Failure Count | Amount of times the link has failed (literally pull the SFP or disconnect the link, can be caused by bad fiber element) |
Loss Sync Count | This field specifies the number of times loss of sync has occurred. |
Primitive Sequence Error Count | An Ordered Set transmitted repeatedly and used to establish and maintain a link. LR, LRR, NOS, and OLS are Primitive Sequences used to establish an active link in a connection between two N_Ports or an N_Port and an F_Port. LIP, LPB, and LPE are Primitive Sequences used in the Arbitrated Loop topology for initializing the Loop and enabling or disabling an L_Port |
Invalid Word Count | This field specifies the number of invalid words received |
Invalid CRC Count | This field specifies the number of frames received with an invalid CRC. |
Initiator IO Count | I/O Count on the initiator on the host side |
