Windows Sleep mode will cause SMB mounts to disconnect.

When using Windows Atlas shares will be mounted with SMB. They can be soft mounted by typing \\<atlas IP> into windows file manager or hard mounted by mapping the Atlas share to a drive letter. When windows sleeps, the mount session will terminate and it will probably not remount the storage when Windows is wakes.

To prevent unwanted storage dismounts, the solution is to disable power saving mode in Windows. In most Windows versions this is done from the Control Panel, but the latest release of Windows 10 (1803) there is no Control Panel.

To disable power saving mode in Windows 10 build 1803, first right click on the Start menu.

Click on Power Options.

Change Sleep to Never, choose whatever time for screen shutoff that's preferred. The Settings window can then be closed.
