SATA Why can't I see the Promise card scan during the system boot?
Ken Chou posted this 17 June 2004

Product: SATA150 TX2 Plus

Product Description: HBA

Platform: all

Firmware/Bios Version: all

Additional Description: The Power On Self Test or "POST" should show devices attached to system during the boot

Solution: There are several reasons why this cannot be seen. You may have the splash screen from the system BIOS enabled (could be shadow or quiet boot) and this should be disabled for diagnostic.

This usually indicates a conflict with another device in the system. To determine which device is conflicting, remove all other PCI peripherals and disable all devices on the motherboard such as USB, LAN, and SCSI. Also, for troubleshooting purposes, try disabling USB boot, PXE boot, Rapid Boot/Quick boot, and Silent Boot. If the card is still not seen there may be a motherboard BIOS conflict. Try the Promise card in another motherboard to confirm this.
