M310p and M610 use a common controller. The model reports correct, it is the VPD information that can be misleading. This is cosmetic and should be ignored. The updated version of controller firmware (has newer version of software built in) will mask the VPD information. (see attached example).

Attached you will find a useful technical document that covers the following:
- Compiling and Installing Drivers for Promise Controllers
- Creating a Driver Install Disk for other Distributions
- RH4.0 AS/ES/WS Update 4 In-kernel Driver install Procedure
- Creating File-Systems and Mounting
- Benchmarking in Linux
Attached you will also find a kernel "SuperTrak_EX Linux Distribution Kernel Versions.pdf" to help understand what kernel builds have in kernel driver support and which kernels we offer pre compiled drivers or simply driver source.
Even though we offer in kernel driver source it is recommended to update the driver either using the precompiled driver or compile your own from source.
It is also recommended to use matching code sets (driver, Firmware, Bios etcetera from the same Service Release)
