VTrak Other How do I tell if my controller is revision B1 or B3?
Ken Chou posted this 16 July 2010

In order to determine if your controller is revision B1 or B3, you must find the serial number of the CONTROLLER - which is located in controller information:

[Controller Info]

----------------------------------------------------------------

CtrlId: 1

Alias:

OperationalStatus: OK             PowerOnTime: 3075 hours 12 minutes

ControllerRole: Primary           ReadinessStatus:Active

LUNAffinity: Enabled              LunmappingMethod: WWN Based

CacheUsagePercentage: 0%          DirtyCachePercentage:0%

PartNo: F29000022000033           SerialNo:M42H09709900268

HWRev: A2R1.5                     WWN: 2100-0001-55d2-3e1

CmdProtocol: SCSI-3

MemType: DDR2 SDRAM               MemSize: 2GB

FlashType: Flash Memory           FlashSize:32MB

NVRAMType: SRAM                   NVRAMSize: 127KB

The numbers which we will concern ourselves with are the six digits which follow the "H":

SerialNo: M42H09
7
09900268
On a Fiber Channel controller, if this number is greater than 08x110, then the controller is revision B3 or higher.
On a SAS controller, if this number is greater than 09x031, then the controller is revision B3 or higher.

VTrak Other Why am I receiving Watch Dog timer resets after flashing SR2.6 firmware
Ken Chou posted this 08 July 2010

Per the download instructions for SR2.6, it is highly recommended to be running matching firmware on both the E-class and all attached J-classes for the subsystem to function properly*

If you have a Jx10 JBOD attached to an Ex10 RAID-head withmismatched expander firmware, you may experience problems when running IO.

To check the firmware revision for your enclosure(s) usingWebPAM, navigate to Administrative Tools > Software Management > ImageVersion.  Look for “SEP Firmware” underEnclosure 1.

Next, check the “SEP Firmware” for Enclosure 2.  If Enclosure 2’s version is older thanEnclosure 1’s, you have two options to update the firmware on the JBOD:

  1. You can re-flash the Vtrak’s firmware with SR2.6 with the JBOD(s) connected and powered on.  The firmware will update the expanders in the JBOD via an in-band flash process.
  2. You can download the Promise utility - which has the ability to update the firmware on ONLY the JBOD expanders.

Both firmware update methods will require you to physically power-cycle the Vtrak via the power switches on the rear.
